Mahabharata

Mahabharata is an international socio-cultural research project initiated by Play structures research laboratory “Teatrika” in 2008. At present the project is developing under the official support of the Legislative Assembly of Saint-Petersburg, Committee for Culture, Committee for External Relations and Russian Academy of Science.

Project objectives

  • Elaborating the optimum way of interaction of modern person with values of the traditional culture.
  • Formulating an innovative mechanism for preservation of the world cultural heritage.
  • Creating of the project that serves a platform for interaction of art, science and business representatives.

“Mahabharata” is a large-scale international project arranged on the principle of synergy. It is a system in which each part strengthens and develops the other parts:

  • Theatrical performance. The performance language of “Mahabharata Frames” is figurative and understandable to the widest possible audience.
  • International education program. Disciplines and workshops developed on the basis of deep research in traditional Indian culture and adapted to European mentality.
  • Publishing project. Publication of methodical materials, scholarly articles, publication of rare texts and books of particular importance for world culture.
  • Film production. Series of educational and documentary films produced during the expeditions to India.
  • Construction of cultural and educational centers in Russia and India. Conducting educational programs, lectures, European and Indian workshops, international festivals, conferences, etc.

An innovative approach to project creation and implementation Process Equilibrium System (PROEQ) has developed in “Mahabharata” in the most complete and wide-scale way. PROEQ is a universal method of constructing harmonious projects in various fields of culture, science and business.

Even today “Mahabharata” forms a space for intercultural cooperation, international research, dialogue of specialists in the field of art and science from different countries.
